What Xtream Codes actually is
Xtream Codes is a widely used IPTV back-end platform. Providers built on it expose a standard HTTP API that a compatible client can talk to. Instead of downloading one big playlist file, the client asks the API for categories, then channels or movies inside a category, then the actual stream URL when you press play.
That means less to download up front, and metadata that a plain M3U can't carry — posters, backdrops, plots, seasons, episodes.
Xtream Codes vs M3U
M3U: one text file, flat list, minimal metadata. Simple to serve, works everywhere. Good for live channels.
Xtream Codes: an API. Categorised movies and series with proper metadata. Better for VOD-heavy providers.
Both are legitimate. If your provider offers both, use Xtream Codes for the richer experience; use M3U if you only get that.
How to log in with Xtream Codes in Kanalo
Open Kanalo, tap Add source, choose Xtream Codes. Enter the host (usually starts with http:// or https:// and a port, e.g. http://provider.example.com:8080), your username and your password. Give the source a name and save.
Kanalo fetches your library and lays it out as three tabs: Live, Movies, Series. Categorised, poster-fronted, with proper metadata where your provider sends it.
Where your credentials live
Your Xtream Codes host, username and password are saved only on your device. Kanalo has no cloud, no accounts and no analytics — nothing about your source is sent to us or to any third party.
Delete the app and your credentials go with it.
